Into your Heart - Chakra Journey (A workshop conducted by Masumi Lacoste)

What is Chakra?

According to Yoga practices, the Subtle Body refers to the metaphysical entity within oneself, the non-material energetic counterpart to our physical body. Also known as the Energy Body, the Subtle Body hosts the flow of energy. In Yoga, the energy flow within the Subtle Body is facilitated by the Chakras, which refers to the seven main vortexes of energy. Chakra is associated with five key elements—space, air, fire, water and earth. A unification of all these elements can provision for an individual’s powerful experience of oneness.

In addition, energetic functions of different organs (like pelvis, genital, solar plexus, heart, lung and brain) are articulated through a specific Chakra. Chakras are therefore subtle gateways for the flow of energy and life into one’s physical body. The flow of energy through our Chakras therefore determines our state of health.

In order for our physical body to function in its most optimal condition, it is essential for us to achieve a balanced flow of life force energy, known as Prana.  Chakra can facilitate the convergence of Prana onto the human physical body, in turn bringing about the perfect balance between the mind, soul and environment.

Prana has to be flowing smoothly throughout the material body system in order for health to be optimized. This can be achieved through Asana of Yoga, breathing techniques, meditation and singing mantra. These practices enable one to activate the Chakras and thereafter achieve radiant health.

Enhanced knowledge of the most subtle energy system can empower us in the maintenance of harmony between the physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga practices aims to guide individuals in the pursuit of balance of energy, through Chakras. Awareness of the acquisition, as well as the utilization of energy allows us to be conscious of the perfect balance in living. It is through this consciousness that one is capable of harmonizing our mental, physical and spiritual self.

What will be done at the workshop?

We will kick off the session with some Asana practice, which incites the Muladhara Chakra to be connected with the Ground (Earth). This in turn sets up the foundation and prepares you for the activation of the Upper Chakras.

Subsequently, you will be guided in the process of connecting with the Universe. At this stage, your sense of purpose will be exemplified through the activation of the Sahasrara Chakra.

Once you feel fully connected to the mother earth and universe, we will move on to focus on the heart center, the Anahata Chakra.  The element of Air will be emphasized during this stage. This chakra induces a sense of Compassion, Empathy, Freedom and Love, Unconditional love. Also this chakra elucidates your emotions, bringing about a balance between the soul and the mind. Through the successful activation of Anahata Chakra, you will discover the Self in the purest form.

In addition, a complementary of Kirtan will allow you to experience the healing power of sound.

Through the workshop, we hope to bring to you a channel for self-discovery, an opportunity to attain your optimal health, as well as a connection with your infinite self.
